In John 14:6 Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the father but by me. I am constantly amazed at the amount of people that are offended when they hear these words. I wonder sometimes what has caused such a rebellion against authority in their lives? You see that is exactly their problem. They are usually so interested in self that they refuse to accept any authority in their lives. They are usually very lonely, even if there is a spouse in their lives. Typically they are trouble at work or school. The list could go on and on of the social difficulties these individuals face, however, it boils down to the fact that they refuse to listen to anyone but self. Now you add insult to injury by saying that in order to get to Heaven they can do nothing to achieve it. The only way is Jesus. That insults the “intelligence” of this person. They have come to rely only upon themselves. Now they find that in order to go to Heaven it is up to Jesus to get them there. They have also missed the fact that there is something they need to do to get there, and that is let go of “ME” and let God be in control. I often think that this solution is too simple for some people. “It can’t be that easy” they say. But it is. If they would get out of their own way and let God work in their lives.  So, how can such a simple thing hang so many up? The answer again is self. “I don’t want it to be like that” is a common response, or,  “Who is God to tell me how to live my life?”  THE ANSWER IS IN THE QUESTION. He is GOD. He created us and as his creation we are to acknowledge the fact that HE is in control. If He is in control, then logically, He is the way the truth and the life. You will not get there if He is cut out of the equation. I know I am repeating myself. It reminds me of the pastor that delivered a sermon the congregation said “good job” to him on the way out. The next Sunday, he delivered the same sermon, the folks thought, “Oh well, it was nice enough to hear twice.” And told him “nice job.” The following Sunday, he delivered the same message again. The elders of the church met with him afterwards and said, “don’t you think it’s time for a new message?” To which he replied, “I don’t know, have you started living out that one yet?” Lots of People have heard this message before, yet, how are you doing on living it out? Have you heard it before, or, are you finding new ways to apply it to your life? Let Him be your way. Let Him be your truth. Let Him be your life. Come to the Father through the only true open door. Then get out of your own way in life.
