WELCOME!
We are a rural Quaker fellowship with families of all ages. Our children
enjoy participating in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and other
activities. Adults participate in the choir, study groups and other
opportunities for learning and service. All ages enjoy gatherings for fun
and fellowship and, of course, food.
Our Journey-
We trace our earliest beginnings to 1824. Some Quakers attending our
‘parent’ Meeting expressed a desire to gather for worship in their immediate
neighborhood. Our first Meeting House was a log structure. The first record
of a Sunday School goes back to 1835.
The present Meeting site, donated in 1888, was first home to a 24’ by 30’
one room frame structure. We worshipped and conducted business under the
watch and care of Spring Friends until 1909. Then we began our journey as a
fully recognized Friends Meeting. Our first pastor was a woman, Ada Lee
(Stanley).
In 1979, we began worshipping in a modern brick Meeting House. The 1888
building (with its many changes and additions) was moved to the Snow Camp
Historical Society drama site, where the Sword of Peace is produced. It is
still in use as office space for the drama.
